Samarkand Kuwaiti Scarf - Dark Grey

Samarkand takes its name from the Silk Road city where ikat weaving was perfected. Chains of elongated almond lozenges run down the scarf, each one holding a small diamond at its core, with finely serrated edges that echo the feathered outlines ikat is known for.

It is worked in the same tone as the ground, so the pattern reads as depth rather than contrast. Geometric, but handmade in feel rather than precise, which is what keeps it from looking printed.

The cotton lycra blend has enough give to hold a wrap without slipping, and at 200 by 70 there is room for a layered style as well as a simple drape.

Black without the hardness, and the gentler of the two at the face. The design shows a fraction more than it does in black.
