Arm Layer is knitted as a single tube with no seam running down it, so nothing rubs and nothing shows through what you wear over it.
The thumbhole is the part that matters. It is cut and finished into the knit rather than left raw, and it anchors the sleeve at the wrist so it never rides up when you move your arms, reach for something or push your sleeves back.
It runs the full length of the forearm and past the elbow, which makes it long enough to sit under a short sleeve without leaving a gap. Light enough for coverage under a sheer sleeve in summer, and warm enough to work as a thin layer in winter.
