Atlas Devore carries a pattern that was not printed on but taken out. The technique is devore, where a gel is laid down in the shape of the design and dissolves one of the two fibres in the weave, leaving the pattern open and sheer while the ground around it stays solid.
The design comes from the Atlas mountains: interlocking diamonds, rows of small triangles and stepped zigzags, the same geometry that runs through Berber weaving and henna. A finer border of scrolls sits at the crown, so the part that frames the face is softer than the rest.
It works entirely in one colour. What separates the pattern from the ground is light rather than pigment, so the whole thing shifts depending on what you wear underneath and how the light falls. Wear an undercap for full coverage.
White softens the whole thing. On a pale ground the difference between solid and open is gentler, so the pattern reads as lace rather than as graphic.
Material: Cotton devore
Finish: Burnout pattern, sheer where the design falls
